Concerned about your relationship? If you are reading this, I suspect that you are concerned about your relationship. Maybe this is a novel consideration for you… “Who would have dreamed we would end up in therapy?” Or maybe you’ve already tried couples counseling and you are just not seeing the results that you had hoped for. Or, perhaps you think that you might need counseling of some kind, but you don’t know where to begin.
Not getting results from traditional couples counseling? I’ve designed my Couples Intensive Weekend Retreats for couples who may not be satisfied with the results of traditional weekly therapy sessions, or those who want to jump-start the repair and renewal of their relationship. There is ample evidence that this intensive, condensed and highly focused approach to relationship issues allows you to get more profound results in a shorter timespan – you’ll progress much more rapidly in repairing your relationship than those who attend months of once or twice weekly sessions.
Here are some very basic signs suggesting that you and your partner might be appropriate for Couples Intensive Weekend Therapy:
- One or both of you are feeling unloved, disrespected, inadequately appreciated, or uncared for.
- One or both of you are feeling unheard – unable to effectively communicate with one another.
- One or both of you are experiencing an inability to disagree/fight effectively such that resolution is reached…humanely..
- One or both of you are having difficulties giving up old resentments and finding ways to refrain from creating new ones.
- One or both of you are feeling unloved and/or misunderstood.
- One or both of you are having feelings of loneliness or isolation.
- The presence or history of infidelity and/or porn issues.
What to look for in a couples therapist. As you consider pursuing quality couples therapy, look for a venue hosted by a licensed psychologist with plenty of experience who provides a safe, nonjudgmental environment where your problems and concerns can be openly, safely and confidentially discussed. If you are considering taking some positive action to repair and renew your most important relationship, I invite you to take my Relationship Questionnaire and I will personally get back to you with my assessment of your situation.
